Thorncroft Mainstreamers

The Thorncroft Mainstreamers Mainstreamers will be providing a demonstration on Saturday afternoon after class #116.  The Mainstreamers is a 6 horse 13 member team consisting of riders with and without disabilities ranging in age from 11 to15.  Since early February, they have been honing their skills, working and riding together, often several times a week preparing for today’s performance.  They are a unique team of riders with wonderful talents.

The team was founded in 1986 and has performed throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York - including local performances at the Devon Horse Show, Dressage at Devon, the Philadelphia Polo Fields and the NARHA/DELTA National Convention held in Gladstone NJ.

Every therapeutic riding program pays special attention to their unsung hereos - the horses that make the work of therapeutic horseback riding possible.  Of the 6 horses in front of you today.. 5 were generously donated to Thorncroft, retired from their lives as competition horses in the fields of eventing, dressage or equitation.

This year we would like to recognize one in particular... “Apache”.  Apache is a veteran from the hunt field... having carried 3 generations to hunt in Chester Springs.  He was donated to Thorncroft only 1 month ago by the Dankanich & Bair families.  He is not only a welcome addition to the Farm... but today as a new member of the Thorncroft Mainstreamers.  Special thanks go out to our friends for thinking of Thorncroft for their horses.

The Thorncroft Drill Team is coached by Amy Swanson of Honey Brook.  She is joined by Asst. Coachs: Mikaela Patrako and Team Members Mira Cahill, Lauren Hill, Anita Johnson, Katja Wurtzel and  Lauren Johnson, Kim Stark, Courtney Bortle, Zoe Goldberg, Maddie Huis, Amy Miles and Steven Reed.
